Gloria Gazaway – Scheduling
When Gloria’s daughter introduced her to ACI’s previous owner 28 years ago, she had no idea the small faily business would become her life’s work. Since that meeting nearly three decades ago, Gloria has watched ACI grow, and she has grown along with it. Once, one of only a handful of women working for the company, she is now one among many, and the small family business is anything but.
Originally a licensed landscaper, Gloria quickly learned how to please people with her professionalism, personality and charm as opposed to flowering foliage. Perfectly cast as a scheduler, her job was to be in contact with customers concerning all the details of their projects, she was the point person of ACI customer service, and she was good at it. And being a natural people person, she loved it, and at 80 still does.
Although there have been a few challenges over the years, through all the growth and the myriad changes, Gloria has continued to roll with the flow, and be happy doing it. She gets asked a lot about retirement but has no plans to do so. Remember, she’s a people person and gets to talk and help people every day.
It was that enthusiastic approach to her job that saw Gloria voted the Most Influential Employee at ACI, an honor that both surprised, and gratified her.
An outdoor enthusiast, recall the landscaping gig, she loves to be outside, doing outdoor things. A broken hip a year or so ago has her daughters’ ban from horseback riding but she still enjoys camping and fishing whenever she gets the chance. It’s something she learned from her dad and passed down to her kids.
When Gloria joined the ACI team it was a small family business and was run like one. She feels everyone is like family at ACI and believes the original concept of a family business is alive and well at the company. It’s just not a small family any longer.
